Hi Dawn,
I just saw your comment on my blog sorry I haven't checked comments for a while.... If you head to The Observatory - its a suburb in CT and I'm pretty sure it was Station Rd that the shop was on. Names starts with "M..." sorry I couldn't pronounce it so it didn't stick in my head but it was a local name. But it was on a narrow-ish road at a cross intersection near a bridge / overpass so near the train line.... But they have heaps of local and east and west african prints there as well as ready made clothing so good for fabric but also to get ideas of what to sew.

The other places we went I literally found in the local phone book. The first place had everything - Fabric World 158 Main Rd Wynberg - ribbons, thread, notions, zips but not local fabrics but if you need supplies this is the place to go. I think they have more than one shop in CT. The little quilting store was where I found the locally printed fabrics sorry can't remember the name but can get you the details off the fabric if you want.

Thanks, missmagic! I am not sure when we will visit Cape Town next, but I´m sure it will happen at some point before we move back to N. America....

Thanks, Mandy! I checked out your blog and your FB page. Wonderful things! I love the flower headband and the ereader cover and gnome bags! Those mandala fabrics are so gorgeous! Have you made anything with them yet?

That sounds familiar. Perhaps I saw that when I was researching sewing supply stores. I only went to Cape Town Sewing and a huge fabric warehouse.....ummm... what was it?.... Rubitex. They had a lot of dress fabrics, not so many quilting weight cottons (which is mostly what I´m into). I heard that in that warehouse area they have separate stores for each kind of thing, like one for elastic, one for thread, etc. I could get my family to indulge me past 2 stores.....
